The Blue Pumpkin Napkin Ring (set of 2)
This handmade napkin ring set blends functionality and artistry. Crafted from mid-fired stoneware, its earthy tones and organic texture add warmth to any table. Adorned with playful hand-painted motifs, it brings joy to everyday meals and special occasions. Sturdy and easy to use, it's perfect for gifting or enhancing your dining experience. This unique piece elevates your table setting, creating an inviting atmosphere for all.
“Sgraffito” is an artistic technique in which a layer of color (usually slip or underglaze) is added on top of the clay while it is still leather-hard. Then the top layer is scratched or carved away to show the clay underneath and to reveal a pattern or design. Once the piece has dried, it is fired in a kiln. A glossy glaze is added and the piece is fired again to a higher temperature.
If you look closely, you can see where all the clay was carved away. It's a long process and can take several hours just to do the carving (not including the creation of the piece, the under-glazing, the final glazing and both firings) Each piece is carved by hand without patterns - these are all my own freeform drawings. Each piece is completely unique and one of a kind. So, even if you see a few pieces with similar drawings, no two are the same.
It is a piece of art.
*All of my work is handmade using slabs, pinching or coiling methods so you may see how my hands manipulated the clay with their perfect imperfections. They can be put in the microwave or the dishwasher, but as with any handmade item, they will last much longer with handwashing and gentle care.
Each piece varies, but these rings are approximately 2 1/4" at their widest point and 1 1/4" deep.
