Our Story

Welcome to Modern Mini Homestead Ceramics.

Since 2018, we have been moving towards a more hands on type of lifestyle….a “modern homestead” approach. Homesteading to us is about living more self sufficiently, having more connection with where our food comes from, and using our own hands to design, build and grow. We live in a suburban neighborhood with less than an acre of land, but we make use of it all.

If I am not in the garden getting my hands dirty in the soil, I am inside the house getting my hands dirty with clay. I earned a BFA in Pottery years ago from Syracuse University. At SU, I explored my creativity with stone sculpture, fiber arts, printmaking, jewelry, sculptural welding, painting and clay. Pottery is my favorite creative art because it is making something beautiful and useful from our natural world. Clay and soil are BOTH my mediums.

Our modern mini homestead continues to grow every year with vegetable gardens, flower gardens, tea gardens, fruit trees, berries, a handmade repurposed-window greenhouse and a cute little coop for our small flock of spoiled backyard hens.

This little outdoor world is where I find inspiration for my art. Flowers, animals, sea creatures and bright colors and patterns are constant themes. Bringing a little bit of nature indoors with pottery is how I keep a happy home. I hope you find the same sense of calm, peace and happiness through these one of a kind pieces, as I do.
